Book to Movie Adaptations

So, book lovers, I’ve been doing my research and have discovered some books coming out this upcoming year or next. Get your popcorn and candy ready!

The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath

This has already been made into a movie, but they’re making a more modern version.

Fahrenheit 451 by Rad Bradbury

I remember reading this one in high school. I loved it! Interested to see it come on screen.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

I remember this one from high school too. So amazing!

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

I personally haven’t read this book yet, but I hear really good reviews about it. And no, there’s not vampires in this one. At least that’s what I hear. Oh gosh, I hope there isn’t.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare

I haven’t read this either, but apparently it’s a huge hit! It’s the first of a series, so surely there are more movies to come after this one. I know I should read it, every time I pass it I want to pick it up. The cover is just so epic in itself.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Seth Grahame

Haven’t read this one either because I’m too afraid to pick it up. No, not because I’m afraid of zombies, but because I love the original Pride and Prejudice too much. However, I still put this on my list because I know a lot of other people that have read it, so I figure it’s important enough to put on here.

Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Sea of Monsters by Rick Riordan

You heard right, the sequel is finally coming out! Let’s see if this one sticks to the book more.

A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle

I remember reading this one back in middle school. I feel like I should reread it because I didn’t like it much back then, and obviously my maturity has grown (at least I hope it has). I just know that this novel is quite popular, so I’m sure a lot of people are excited about it becoming a movie. I remember some really trippy stuff in the book, so I’m sure it’ll be cool on screen!

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephenie Meyer

Yup, you read right, another vampire movie going to come out from Miss Meyer. Personally I’d rather take a break from all of this vampire stuff (she’s said so herself!), but I pretty much have to put this one down to let everyone know. The release date isn’t really known, but do be aware that producers want to make this one into a movie too.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky

I posted about this one merely a day ago, but I have to put it in this one too. It’s coming this fall *squeals*, and I’m so ever excited how it’s all going to turn out. This book is one of my absolute favorites, I’ve read it ten times or more, and every time I still feel the emotions tug at me. Such a beautiful story.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

I’m sure a lot of people already know that the second Hunger Games is coming to theaters next year, but for those who didn’t know, voila! We have a new director this time around, so I’m excited to see what they bring to the table. Hopefully better special effects and sticks more to the character development. And please no more shake-y camera movements, thank you.

And who’ll be casted as Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason? Rumors are still going around, so I’m excited for those two also. They better give the book/characters justice!

Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher

Okay, so this one is not set in stone, but I’ve heard rumors of it becoming a movie. I would see it the first day in theaters, that’s for sure! I think it’d be really good on screen too; not too much they can mess up on in this one. At least I would hope not!

Which book to movie adaptations are you going to see? I know I have a lot of movies to get to these next couple of years! And also patiently twiddling my thumbs for a Maximum Ride movie, it’d be too epic for words.

Keep on reading! Well, and in this case, watching the movies to those books too 🙂
